As a Student-Athlete I would like to push myself to have a healthy balance of both swimming collegiately and earning a degree. I hope to earn a degree in Environmental Science in college as well as swim competitively. I am motivated and willing to push myself to succeed in both fields. Currently I am enrolled at a specialized high school in Tacoma, Washington. The Science and Math Institute (SAMi) focuses on higher intensity science and math based learning. At SAMi, I challenge myself academically by taking advanced classes like AP Environmental Science, AP Chemistry, Marine Biology, and several others. While I continue to push myself in high school academically I also continue to focus on pushing myself athletically. Going into my junior year I am committed to dropping my swim times. As someone who is newer to swimming I have not had as much experience at meets and as many fewer opportunities to improve my times. Having said that I am incredibly motivated to keep improving throughout my next two high school swim seasons and club team seasons. I started swimming in the summer of 2018. First swimming for a club my entire freshman year and then during my sophomore year I swam my first high school season. During that time I dropped my times significantly especially in the 500 free. During the last 6 months of quarantine I have been working out and keeping myself fit by running, biking, and doing at home workouts. My club swim team started back up last month and I’ve been swimming with them as much as possible. I am incredibly excited for my high school swim season this winter as I will be working as hard as I can to drop my times as much as I can. I am also planning on running cross country this fall. Although it is a sport I am new too, it will help me stay fit. I am also continuing to challenge myself outside of school. I will be joining Sea Scouts later this year as I have already gotten my Eagle Scout in Scouts BSA, and I will be working on more leadership opportunities. Whatever school I go to, I will be incredibly motivated to improve myself and the community around me as much as possible.
