Hello, I am Daniel Anderson, a senior and swimmer at Spring Valley High School in Huntington, West Virginia. My goal is to become a competitive swimmer at the college level. I first discovered my passion for swimming 3 years ago. Previously, I was a life-time baseball player, who joined the swim team for off-season conditioning. After my first swim season, I decided to focus solely on swimming and did not join the baseball team again. At the end of my junior swim season, I joined a local club swim team, Huntington Riptide. I have practiced with Riptide for the whole summer and recently attended my first club swim meet, where I swam my personal best 50 freestyle with a time of 24.86. Through club swim, I have learned all strokes and have branched out in competing in various events. My high school team had our opening meet of the 2021-2022 season where I improved my times once again. I came in with a close second place finish in the 50 free with a converted time of 24.42, and a strong first place in the 100 free with a converted time of 55.42.
I am confident I can achieve my goal of becoming a successful college swimmer because I am a competitive athlete who strives to get better each day. In addition to being competitive, I am a team player who will hype my teammates up and encourage them to do their best as well.
Through college courses, I hope to pursue a criminal justice degree and ultimately land a career as a criminal investigator. I feel that the commitment, discipline, leadership and camaraderie that I have developed through both swim teams will carry on throughout my college journey as well as throughout my future career.
