Hello my name is Adam Anderegg and I am in the class of 2024. I started swimming when I was 7 because my sister joined our local swim club. Little did I know it would soon become my favorite sport. As a club swimmer, I had the unique opportunity to compete against other club swimmers for part of the season and then as teammates for larger meets. This taught me to be competitive, yet supportive to all of my teammates. During my freshman year, I used my club experience to help my 4x100 relay team qualify for the Wisconsin state meet.
Training and sports hasn't come without complications. At the beginning of my 8th grade year, I was diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis due to a viral infection. I was sidelined for months as my leg muscles healed . During that time, I worked with my physician, personal trainer, and physical therapist to develop a safe plan to help me maintain my upper body strength. This scare made me realize how much I wanted to swim. It wasn't all about competing. It was being part of a team and having support from teammates and coaches, Thankfully, I made a full recovery.
Other sports I love to compete in are mountain bike racing and track and field. During my freshman year of track, I ran the fastest 200m dash for the boys varsity team. I enjoy other sports, as I realize it helps me condition my body for the swim season.
As a student athlete, I have always put being a student first. My freshman year, I achieved academic honors. My goal is to continue with honors all 4 years of high school. I also look forward to challenging myself with AP classes. At this time, I have not decided on a major, but am favoring something in either science, math, or engineering.
I look forward to swimming in college as I know I have not yet reached my full potential as a swimmer. I am learning how to use my physical and mental strength to help me continue to be the best swimmer, athlete, and scholar.
