Throughout my thirteen years competing in swimming I have learned many things about who I am as a person and an athlete. Swimming has not only impacted my life but also how I compete and train in my other sports, soccer and basketball. Swimming is my favorite sport because it is both a team and an individual sport. Individually, swimming has allowed me to challenge myself both physically and mentally, overcoming my hardest days in the pool. Determination, self-motivation, and a strong desire to compete all contribute to my achievements through my swimming career. I have made eight state appearances both in youth club swimming and high school combined. While my hours in the pool and passion for this sport have given me the opportunity to be apart of state experiences, my leadership skills have lead me to be the best captain, teammate, and friend I can be.
Aside from the athlete part of being a student-athlete, I have high expectations for myself in the realm of academics in high school and eventually college. My goal is to graduate high school with a GPA above 3.5. I will continue to take AP and accelerated classes throughout my senior year to further prepare myself for college. My time spent outside of the pool will be devoted to my schoolwork and building strong relationships with my teammates. With a strong support group of family and friends cheering me on, and my personal motivation, I will be able to learn and succeed when pursuing my dreams as a college student-athlete.
