I love athletics and have been around tennis my whole life, and I also come from a tennis family. At an early age, my parents encouraged me to try as many sports as I could to see what I liked the most. This included Baseball, Tennis, Football and Volleyball. Even though I excelled in each sport, my passion brought me back to tennis when I was 13. It was then that I decide to focus exclusively on tennis with a goal to compete at the college level. The thing that brought me back to tennis was the individuality of the sport. I like putting pressure on myself to perform knowing that I have to be accountable to myself. I also enjoy the team aspect of Tennis and was fortunate to play at the USTA JTT National Championship in 2019 where our team placed 4th in the nation for 18's, and I was only 15 at the time and only lost one match during the whole tournament. As I entered my senior year of high school, I became all concerned with my UTR in singles, and worrying about it did more damage than good and affected my play. I have since decided to go out and just play my best and see what happens. One big result is that I'm enjoying my singles game more.
Why I want to play College tennis…
The thing that I look forward to the most in playing college tennis is the team aspect. Junior tennis has been such a lonely and isolated sport, but I have always excelled when it has been a team event. From High School Tennis to USTA Junior Team Tennis, I have always risen to the challenge and love the pressure and playing as a team. I think the “team" aspect is one of the reasons that my doubles game has surpassed my singles game. I hope to play for a fun and high energy program that can utilize my strengths and versatility.
