My name is Ethan Yurochko and I think of myself as a well-rounded student-athlete from a close / athletic family. I generally rise to leadership positions and love to dive into a wide variety of after school clubs and community activities. In short, I consider myself a team builder who gets along with almost everyone and can organize, rally and lead classmates to bigger things. I get involved.
Academically, I take the maximum amount of AP and honors classes for my grade and am proud to carry a 3.8 / 4.0 GPA. This upcoming year I will have my 2nd, 3rd and 4th AP classes. In addition, this summer I am taking a 2 week long virtual class on Leadership at Georgetown University, followed by a 2 week long on-campus class on Virtual Reality Programming at Northeastern University in Boston. I'm also taking ACT and SAT prep through the Princeton Review. In addition to the above, next summer I plan on taking a longer, immersive college course for both credit and further campus experience.
After playing sports year round (baseball, football and soccer), I came across tennis in 8th grade and immediately fell in love with the game. I now play year round, both for my high school team and in UTR tournaments around the country. More specifically, I have a weekly private coach and attend Lu's Tennis Academy in Saratoga and I was the captain of our JV team and will be on varsity this coming season. I am also launching a brand new tennis club for Los Gatos High School to both coordinate offseason practices for the team as well as share technique tips and simply enjoy major tournaments on TV. Finally, I participate in a number of UTR tournaments at colleges such as San Jose State, Stanford University and Tufts University and am consistently working on my UTR rating. I am working hard and improving quickly.
Taking all this together, I am prioritizing academics in the college selection process, but would also like to represent my school on the courts. I can help bring a team together through hard work, communication and general leadership and would very much look forward to hearing more about colleges and universities that may be a fit. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
