I consider myself fortunate to have a life infused with experiences which helped create the person I am today. My family and I moved from Brazil to Florida when I was 12, coming to a new country where I knew no one or understood the language was tough at first. Today I look back and thank my parents for taking the risk of losing everything in a new country seeking a better life for us all. I was the number one tennis player in Brazil and I knew that I could achieve many great things in the U.S, which I did. High School does not have the strongest competition, but I decided to play my Freshmen and Sophmore year, elected captain and #1 for both years. Although not a lot was added to my game, I was able to mature and learn how to be a leader amongst my teammates and coaches, which thought me really important lessons of confidence and humility. Of course there was some rocks among the way, when the doctor told me I was going to have knee surgery after my meniscus was torn almost a year ago. Five months without playing made me feel unfortnate, but I was able to recover well and come back playing the best tennis of my life. I am always improving my USTA ranking and looking forward to play ITF tournaments and futures soon. Tennis is what I love to do, but I did not leave my academics aside, I have always been an intelligent student who loves to learn and discover new things. I have taken the hardest AP/IB classes in my school and have succeeded on all of them. I also make sure to do volunteer work at my former Middle School helping the sports teams at practice and games. I believe I am a hardworking and collaborative teen who will do great at any university I decide to go to
