I began playing competitive tennis in middle school. My father has been a large influence not only as a role model, but as my primary coach. He has shown me that tennis is just as much a mental sport as it is physical. He has taught me to never be satisfied with my current level of play, and that talent doesn’t matter without the correct positive attitude.
The game of tennis has taught me to constantly assess, adapt and be flexible in evolving environments. I’ve learned to constantly evaluate my playing level with three questions: What did I do well? What could I have done better? What will I do different next time? I apply these three questions to every aspect of my life whether in my relationships, studies, extracurricular activities, job, family or faith.
Tennis has always been a good fit for me. I enjoy the unity of collective teamwork, but also love the individual momentum I contribute toward the team. I’m looking for a program and school that will encourage me to not only develop and mature as a player, but as a student and as a person.
