The ability with which I credit myself the most is adaptability. This allows me to learn new things quickly and also encourages creative problem-solving. Luckily this trait boosts academic achievement as well as athletic. I started playing tennis my sophomore year but within a year, I was already competing and winning matches against players that have been playing for years. I never let the score of a match, how I am playing, or frustration cause a negative outward reaction from me. I understand that I need to calmly and swiftly adjust my playing to get better results. This is not to say that I am not passionate about the game, it is to show that I am like a lump of coal when I am under pressure, eventually, I will shine. I have noticed this is the main difference between me and other players my own age.
This adaptability can also be used to my advantage while in the classroom. Learning from my mistakes, I make the necessary changes for improvement. I understand that struggle leads to success. As a student-athlete, it is important to me that I continue to earn good grades. I consistently strive for the highest grades possible. I plan on continuing to hold myself to this high standard academically as I pursue my tennis career as well as my academic career.
