Tennis is rewarding for me because it enables me to be the best version of myself. Hello, my name is Jack Bolton. I am currently a Junior at Middletown High School in Middletown, Maryland. I have played varsity tennis since my freshman year. Last year I played third doubles and this coming season I expect to play first doubles or first/second singles. I have a strong work ethic and resilient mentality as a competitor. I took up tennis on a whim as a little kid and now it is my absolute favorite thing to do. I am extremely dedicated to the sport and am constantly pushing myself to do more. I play tennis year round, including summer junior leagues, adult tournaments, and adult ladders.
I treat tennis as a challenge, and it’s always forcing me to think of what the next step is. I love playing singles and doubles alike, and am proficient in both. I work well with my teammates and had success as a county finalist last year (didn’t get to play the finals due to weather). I work well with all of my teammates because I am good at giving people feedback and keeping things organized, but I am also able to receive and accept feedback as well. I love to support my teammates on and off the court. I feel like it is able to create a closer bond between everybody that way. I am looking to find a scholarship that is suitable for both my academic and athletic careers because they are both equally important to me.
