Hello my name is Brian Ward and I am from Westport, Massachusetts. I am class of 2024 at Bishop Stang High School. I have been playing tennis since I was around 8-9 years old and these past two years my love for the sport has really come back and I have been taking tennis a lot more seriously. I began playing USTA tournaments again this past summer, and although my results have not been the greatest as of late, I think I am gaining a lot of experience I will use in the future. I recently transferred to Bishop Stang and before that I was the number 2 singles player for Bishop Connolly High School my Sophomore and Junior years. My Junior year we won our conference and I held a record of 12-2 at second singles. I may not have the greatest experience in terms of high level USTA tournaments but I believe my work ethic, coachability, and potential is what makes me stand out from the rest. I always find time to get on the court whether it is before or after school/work as well as getting to the gym 4-5 times a week. I think another great quality I have is my coachability. An athletes work ethic extends to their willingness to learn and improve. Coaches can count on me to take their guidance seriously and work on my weaknesses as well as exploiting my strengths. My work ethic does not just go towards tennis, it goes towards the classroom as well. I am very disciplined when it comes to school. I have maintained a 3.7 GPA throughout high school as well as being on honor role all 4 years including first honors my junior year. I believe I can play an important role on any college team, and any coach that gives me an opportunity can be sure that I will make the absolute most out of it.
