Hello , My name is Oscar Turek and I have been playing tennis since 2nd grade and ever since then I have had the dream of playing tennis after high school. I have the drive and passion for the sport and I have been through so much with it. As a freshman in high school I got the opportunity to play 1st singles and be the captain of the Men's tennis team at my Dennis Yarmouth Regional High School. This opportunity has taught me how to be a leader and how to persevere through hard times. Even though we didn't have a good season my first year as captain it didn't push me away from the sport , it brought me closer. It showed me the bonds that are created and how much work goes into being a captain and playing this sport. It taught me how to lose and taught me how to preserver even if you don't succeed time and time again so that you can push through and make it to the point that you are starting to win. I am a very coachable player who loves listening to criticism to grow and become better. I give 110% every practice to make sure that I am getting everything I can from each coach that I play under. The reason that I stand out from the rest of the candidates is that I got to experience the responsibility of a captain at such a young age that it turned me into a very mature and mentally strong individual. But being a captain came with the responsibly to keep everyone's heads high and to make sure that the slow season didn't affect them and to make sure that they can still be able to have fun while playing the sport.
