Personal Statement

My name is Carter Senger and becoming a college tennis player is a top priority for me. I have been playing competitively for 4 years and I am committed to becoming the best tennis player and student I can be.  I am looking to become part of a college team and contribute to the team's success.  As a Freshman, I played #1 and #2 doubles with my twin brother.  We were Regional runner-up in #1 doubles and placed 8th at the State tournament in #1 doubles as Freshman.  I was playing Varsity singles as a sophomore, but our season was cut short due to Covid-19.  I completed my junior high school season on May 15, 2021, winning the Oklahoma class 4A #2 Singles and becoming a State Champion.  I finished my junior year with a record of 42 wins and 1 loss. I will be playing USTA, UTR, and ITA tournaments this summer to increase my UTR and work on all aspects of my game.  I live in rural Oklahoma and travel weekly to Oklahoma City for lessons with my coach. When at home, I practice tennis daily, hitting with my twin brother. I also do daily strength and endurance workouts.  I am excited about the opportunity to visit with college coaches.

  • This was the first official high school tournament of the 2021 season. Our team took 2nd place overall and missed 1st place by 0.5 points. I was seated #1 and had a bye in my 1st round. In the semifinals, I played Jyhil Reed from Lawton HS and won (1,0). I then played Josh Phelps from Lawton Eisenhower and won 1st place with a score of (1,0). The tournament had 8 high schools participating; Lawton HS (6A), Lawton Eisenhower (5A), Lawton MacArthur (5A), Azle HS (Texas 5A), Elk City HS (4A), Anadarko HS (4A), Chickasha HS (4A), & Elgin HS (4A).

  • High School Tournament. 8 schools were invited. The singles draw featured 16 players, 2 from each school. I was seated #3. I reached the finals but did not play the match for several reasons. My twin brother Evan also made the finals. We both had to take the ACT test the next morning. Our semifinal matches ended at 8 pm and the finals probably would not have taken place until around 10 pm and then there is a 2-hour drive home after what probably would have been a 2-hour match. Our coach along with the tournament director decided that we would not play the final match so that we could get home at a decent hour to allow us a decent night of sleep before the ACT test the next day. Match results: First Round 6-0, 6-0; Quarterfinals 6-0, 6-0; Semifinals 6-2, 6-1; Finals DNP.
