My name is Maxwell Davis, I have been playing tennis recreationally since I was in 4th grade. In the fall of my Freshman year I decided that I wanted to commit myself too tennis and to my goal of playing in college. I stopped playing football so I could focus on tennis. Every day I do fitness before school, then I am on court from 3:30 to 8:30, and then I will stretch for a half an hour.
After my competitive tennis career is over I would like to become a tennis coach. I want to major in physical therapy, personal training, or something relating to athletics because I believe that will help me best when I become a tennis coach.
I believe that I have a very strong work ethic, I love the game of tennis and I am very excited by the idea of playing tennis in college!
Here is a recommendation from my coach:
To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Michael Jordan, and I am writing to you on behalf of Maxwell Davis. I have been the Director of Racquet Sports at Lancaster Country Club, in Lancaster PA, for the past six years. In my career that spans over 25 years, I have helped more than 100 junior players achieve their dream of playing college tennis at the Division I, II, and III levels. Six years ago, when I came to Lancaster, Maxwell was a recreational player, however, he decided two years ago to go all in with tennis. At that time, I explained to Maxwell very honestly, that he was behind compared to his peers in skill level and that to catch up he would have to seriously dedicate himself and make sacrifices with his time if he were to reach his goals. This would scare most players away, but not Maxwell. Not only did he listen, he committed to his goals 100%. He dedicated himself to the sport of tennis, and has made every sacrifice necessary to achieve his goals. I believe he can accomplish anything he puts his mind to. Maxwell is one of the hardest workers I have ever been fortunate enough to coach in my career. I look forward to every practice with him, because he is so eager to improve and learn and always gives 100%. It does not matter the situation, you can always count on Maxwell to not only be motivated, but to motivate everyone else around him. Maxwell’s work ethic is incredible. In all my years of coaching I haven’t seen many players that could match his heart and desire. I ask that you to consider Maxwell because he would be a great addition to any team, and he truly is a special young man.
Sincerely,
Michael Jordan
Director of Racquet Sports
