My name is Will Higgs, and I was born into a tennis family so I began playing when I was 5 years old. Both of my parents and my twin sister and younger brother play tennis, so it was a fun family event for us to all play together. I also played several other sports and ran track and cross country when I was younger, but began to focus on tennis and running when I was in middle school. My dad played college tennis and that has become my personal goal as well.
I have been playing #1 boys singles and doubles since I started my freshman year, and through that I have learned so many things—like putting fear aside and playing with heart and mental toughness, the importance of your words, actions, and attitudes as a team leader, and that hard work really does pay off.
My goals for high school are to continue to maintain a GPA above a 3.5 and to make the Texas State Tournament in the spring in either boys singles or playing doubles either with my twin sister or my brother. In college, my goals are to graduate with a degree in possibly business or fire science, I’m not sure yet.
I have my student pilot’s license, and my mom and my grandfather are both Certified Flight Instructors and they are teaching me how to fly. I also enjoy playing pickleball, lots of water sports, hunting with my cousins, and helping younger kids learn how to play tennis.
