When I think of a college athlete, I think of someone with great morals along with being an amazing player of their sport. That is what I inspire to be, being the captain of my high school team for two years requires you to step up and lead the team through rough times and support both teammates and opponents. Encouraging my team when coaches aren't watching or helping my team on new drills they don't quite understand, is something I do often. I want to help my team improve on any aspect of their game that they can so we can all be successful.
My interest in tennis started my 7th grade year when I joined the middle school team. As days went by, I gained more knowledge about the game and how to become a better teammate. I always wanted to go practice more and more, and staying after practice was over to get more time hitting and working on my craft continued to be one of my goals. Even to this day, I put more time into tennis than I every have, working my hardest in matches to pull out a win, respecting all players no matter the outcome. With this drive, it has pushed me to become Singles District Champion my sophomore and junior year. I have grown to see that hard work pays off but sometimes character is more important than athletic abilities. I am fortunate enough to have access to everything I need for the sport of tennis, including equipment, extra lessons, and competing in tournaments, as well as encouragement and support from my family and I'm hoping I can find a college with great academics along with athleticism to continue my future.
