My name is Carson Bolton, and I am currently a junior at Trinity Christian High School in Lubbock, Texas. I will graduate May 2022. I have been playing competitive tennis for four years, and I am very interested in playing in college. I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself in hopes of taking this next step in college tennis.
In my tennis career, I am currently a 7.3 UTR and through USTA I have qualified for superchamp tournaments. I take lessons from two people weekly, Ilgiz Valiev and Norm Smith. Ilgiz Valiev is the number two player at Texas Tech University. Norm Smith is my high school tennis coach, who has over thirty years of coaching experience. I travel throughout Texas going to USTA open tournaments, usually level 5 tournaments. I am intensively working with Ilgiz to improve and prepare for tournaments and will continue doing so over the summer. In July 2020, I went to the John Newcombe Tennis Camp in New Braunfels. I spent one week there and was given the scholarship award of the week. I went to Newks for the college showcase in December 2020 and their winter camp in late December too. I plan on being back at Newks June 2021 for summer camps as well as playing in as many USTA tournaments too. In my spring 2021 high school tennis season, I won boys singles at district and won 2nd place at the state tournament. (4A TAPPS)
Outside of tennis, I am heavily involved at my high school. I currently have a 3.8 GPA and I take a mixture of honors and academic level classes. I have been involved in student leadership for three years, and currently serve as a small group leader for some of the younger classmen. I was awarded the Lions Heart Award for leadership and athletics in May of 2020. I have consistently been on the A and B honor roll throughout high school. Through my high school and my church, I have gone on several mission trips to Dallas, Guatemala, and Miami. I have also served locally at Lubbock Impact and South Plains Food Bank.
I am falling in love with the game, and playing around 14-16 hours per week. Thank you for considering me. I hope to hear back from you and learn more about your tennis program. Below is a list of references that you are welcome to contact. Thank you again.
Sincerely,
Carson Bolton
