The path to being able to play collegiate level is not easy. I've been playing tennis since I was 9, and I have experienced the pressure of the sport ever since. Once I knew my sister was able to achieve an athletic scholarship, I set my next goal for the future: to be part of a college team. My hunger to become better every day is what keeps motivating me to keep playing tennis at a high level, and this mentality of determination has been impregnated in me since I was a kid. My past experiences as a 14-year-old, where I participated in recognized team competitions such as; America Cup, Billie Jean King Cup, and even represented my country (Mexico), have taught me that team effort is of complete importance in the world of tennis.
I can bring to a college team a philosophy of hard work and doing the right thing for the team to be successful. I believe that my academics can also demonstrate how dedicated I am, not only on the athletic side but also in the academic program that college can provide me. When going to university, I'm looking for a balance between the sport that I love and the opportunity to continue with my studies in a good finance program.
