Many of my best memories stem from tennis; all the way back to 4th grade, learning from a friend that tennis clubs were a real thing because he already played at a club. When I started playing, I quickly realized that I wanted to get better and that’s when I began to be competitive with others and striving for improvement. In school I would constantly ask my teachers for extra/harder work, searching for new knowledge and improvement on my current knowledge, related to both tennis and academics.
These early ideals are what led me into band. I started in 5th grade on the trumpet but switched to percussion because I thought drums were cooler. I stuck with it though and last year our band went to Carnegie Hall where I played percussion. It was such a cool experience. As a freshman, a friend introduced me to Young Life, and through this group I learned what it was like to have true friends. Throughout all of this, I have been told that I’m talented, I’m a leader, and I’m calm under pressure. These are qualities that I think have benefited me so far and I hope I will have the opportunity to contribute to a college tennis team.
