I envision my college years to be a personal growth period. My goal is to explore a science major that will position me well for medical school, so that I can pursue a career in dentistry. I have contributed to the Dothan High School varsity football and track programs for three consecutive years. As a track athlete I focused my talents on the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, 4x100 meter and the 4x400 meter dashes, setting new personal records several times during the year. I also ran third leg on the 4x400 meter dash team that reached the 2018 6A State Championships in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Most recently I competed in the USATF Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships, advancing to the Regional Championship in the 100 & 200-meter dashes in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. I believe my leadership skills on the track has help to make me and my teammates better as sprinters, while contributing to new seasonal best times in the relay events. Likewise, off the field I have participated in exciting academic leadership programs like ENVISION’s National Youth Leadership Forum for Engineering and Technology at Georgia Tech University, Duke University’s Talent Identification Program and the A.S.C.E.N.D Educational Enrichment Program. On the track I plan to be a leader and positive influence on the team. The college athletic experience that I would like to have is one that would challenge me to improve as an athlete to compete for a NCAA Track and Field Championship, while also contributing meaningfully to my community as a kind-hearted son, brother, student and friend.
