Before track and field, my dream was to be an olympic swimmer. Michael Phelps was my idol. I worked toward that dream tenaciously for 4 years even taking home two provincial silvers. Then Covid came. With pools being closed and no other viable options available, I needed to find a way to cross-train. So, I turned to running. What was initially a form of cross training turned into a passion that rivaled my love for swimming. I found myself getting very competitive in the sport very quickly.
Fast forward to today where this sport has given me national gold, silver, and bronze medals, the position of Alberta team captain, and numerous provincial golds, this passion has given me just as much as I have put into it. The most important things this sport has given me is a work ethic, leadership mentality, and dedication that affects everything I do. My teachers see this in my attention to detail in all the work that I do. My basketball coaches see this in my leadership which is why they gave me the rookie of the year award. My parents see this in my consistent, unwavering, dedication to waking up before school and training rain, shine, or snow. What I want more than anything from a college is the chance to build a program into something great. I’m prepared to be a leader and an important asset to your team!
