My name is Mats Swanson and I am a high school junior competing for my local track club and high school. I started competing in track and field when I was 12 years old. I quickly fell in love with the sport and I would describe it as my ultimate focus over the last four years alongside academics. During the last few years I have learned so much about the sport and have adapted my lifestyle to support my goals. I have been highly motivated to not only improve my performances, but also to optimize every supporting factor that drives my progress. These include diet, strength training, sleep, and effort during practice, all of which I highly prioritize. I would describe myself as a speed based 800m athlete who can step down as far as the 200m. In my most recent outdoor season (freshman year), I have discovered new capabilities in the 400m making it a primary event for me alongside the 800m. My passion and goal is to continue running in college; pursuing high academic standing while training and competing with a team of focused athletes and coaches of the highest calibre and commitment.
