I (Laurel Bukuru) was born in Africa and didn't have a lot growing up. My moms dream was to get us in America which she did, she completed her part, i didn't have any goals it was just to make it to collage and find a good job that pays well. but when I started doing sport in my junior year i meat people and made family with them and set new goals for me and my my friends. I joined the basketball team and I was kind good but not that good for the coaches, I then joined track and only thought it was running, I had not idea what it was. i got introduced to all kind of stuff. 100, 200, 300, 400, high jump, long jump, and triple jump. I did all of them but i was better at long jump and triple jump. starting off i jumped 16, 17 my first time, but in the middle of it i would hit 18s. i triple jump I started off by jumping 36, and 37 but I was dedicated to get better so I trained and practiced hard for the "southern Arizona Championship". i then it came and I started off jumping 37, 38, and the I accidentally jumped of the wrong board and got a 39 which put me in the finals. I had 3 more jumps and i switched my board to the 36. Boom my first jump I hit 39 again and then my second 40, I was getting pumped and then on my last jump I hit 41.04 and I got 4th place medal finally going to state. and this year I want to aim to hit 44 or 45 which would be cool so I can get a full ride to a good collage that I can be and keep chasing my goals and dreams.
