I have always been involved in a wide variety of sports, hobbies and extra-curricular activities. My most prominent focus however has always been running and it has become a lifestyle. My family is passionate about running but never forced it on me. I went to my first club practice with the Vancouver Olympic Club with a friend in 2007.
Through track and field and cross-country with my club and high school teams I have learned to be a leader. I have a strong sense of perseverance and team spirit. This commitment is something that I also translate into academics and I strive to be the best I can be. My vision is to earn a study health sciences before going into sports medicine/osteopathy.
There was a point earlier in my life, when I was unable to overcome the challenge of winning against a particular competitor with an invincible reputation. Finally, during one race I was at the point of accepting that I would be second once again. Something snapped and I decided, “That’s not happening today”. I was able to break through the mental barrier of “can” and “can’t” to reach deeper into the well for new strength. From that moment on, I have been able to find the energy to finish each race with renewed power and not settle for less than what I can really achieve.
