Daily runs and notes: www.strava.com/athletes/ningkaiyang
I'm a competitive runner, careful with tactics, recognize my competition, strengths and weaknesses, and pace within myself to be able to compete and shake things up at the end of each race and produce consistent results.
My name is Nickolas Yang, and I am a rising senior at Albany High School in Albany, California. I have a 4.54/4.0 Weighted GPA and a 1590 on the SAT. I am looking for a school that can challenge me academically. I have been running cross country and track and field for just a year because I missed the opportunity of starting earlier as an inter-district transfer student during the (COVID) online freshman year. I joined track in the second half of my Sophomore year and enjoyed the community of my school track team but was not fully committed due to other extracurriculars. For all these reasons, I didn't start taking running seriously until the summer before junior year, when I did some running over the summer and came into cross country season ready to improve and attend daily practices. Since then I've been dedicated to running and truly enjoy being able to run and compete, along with the friends I have made. I’ve improved a ton and am planning on improving more going into senior year. My sophomore to junior jump (12:52 -> 10:06) shows I have more to give and my senior year end goals (may be optimistic, only time will tell) are probably sub 4:30 1600m and sub 9:40 for the 3200m, and a 16:20 XC 5k at states. I love running for the community, friends, fulfillment from pushing myself, and for the benefits of physical health.
