Medical Prospects
I was born into a financially unstable white household in San Bernardino, I would look around my house having to play with sticks as toys, rather than, the toy cars or action figures that most children would have. I was the first born out of 5 brothers and I knew that I always had to be an example for them, my family didn't have anything to their name, but I wanted to change this by bringing respect to the Trexler name. Proving to all financially unstable children that it's not about where you come from, but rather, it's the work you put in.
Before attending my first schooling I would spend the majority of my time reading through whatever books were on my parent's shelf, and while other kids grabbed “The Very Hungry Caterpillar '' I was reading biology, world encyclopedias, and engineering textbooks.
When I first started school, I remember my parents telling me that education is the only way ill be able to do whatever I wanted and I took their word for it, paying attention to everything my parents did. I watched my dad while he worked at his workshop, and brought my papers to my mom so that she could tell me every single error I made. In class, the kids around me would play and hurriedly finished their work while the teacher spoke but I fully focused on the teacher as if he was a book. What made me so disciplined are my fears of being forgotten, and knowing that I had limited time to make an impact on this world fueled me to do as much as I can with the time I have.
My passion was to change the world through engineering. Which I started advocating for when I worked around the educational system in place, I applied for STEM during my middle school year where I was told that the program was only for Hispanic or Latino descendants. This irritated me but I appealed and was the first caucasian to be a part of the program, instead of getting angry at the system in place I had an even greater motivation to work hard because I was given an opportunity by being accepted so I had to work with what was given to me.
My public education continued to Arroyo Valley High School where I was accepted into the environmental engineering academy. I was the top student, accumulating a straight “A” report card while participating in sports like Track and Field, participating in clubs, and opening dialogue to not limit the students to non-honor classes. Even during distance learning I adapted and maintained a straight A GPA and got awarded for my performance in English and Chemistry. Then I transferred and became the only junior transfer at Middle College High School. I had to take more demanding coursework to catch up for the two years I didn't attend Middle College. Despite this I became a high achieving student, being president of running club, and peer leader, discussing with the principle on how to make the campus better, developing the 61 golf team on campus, and finding my career path.
In my first year at Middle College, I took an Anatomy class; which introduced me to the medical field. I became interested in the body, and I reflected on several family members that I've lost and knew that I wanted to be a part of this field. I found medical engineering to have the potential that would most allow me to fulfill my goals to prolong life and save millions of lives through technology such as bioprinting. I believe that my purpose in life is to be the frontman of medical technology and leave a foundation for others to get closer to immortality. I plan to spread my influence around the world. I will do this by creating a company that will lead the creation of these technologies, while also learning multiple languages like Spanish, and Persian to better communicate and facilitate a global pursuit of developing the technology to achieve my dream.
I thank you for your consideration and hope that you will allow me to push the boundaries of what's possible and I hope that I'm rememberable.
