Hello. I am Hunter Janssen and I am a positive representation of the future. I have not had a perfect life, as my dad passed away suddenly when I was 12 years old, but I have done my best to become the best person I can be on and off the track. This has been done with the help of several people - my mom, family, friends, teachers, coaches, Scoutmasters, community leaders, etc. - all whom I gratefully call my village.
I possess skills, qualities and abilities that I feel any university would want:
And...PASSION...to do my best, to do the right thing, to support and encourage others.
I am a future car designer. I have loved cars since I was a toddler, and that feeling has never wavered. My plan is to major in Engineering, specifically focusing in Automotive/Transportation Engineering and Design.
My other love is running. I have competed in Track and Cross Country since 6th Grade. I use Cross Country as a means to stay in shape and build stamina and endurance for Track, and it has seemed to do well for me. I am a dedicated runner and I push myself for personal records every day and with every meet/invitational I compete in. When I run relays, my focus is on running my best for the team.
I am a young person who has many interests. I have maintained a balance and achieved over a 4.3 GPA. Besides my accomplishments in Track and Cross Country, I have earned awards for academics, Band, and speech competitions and hold leadership positions, such as Head Project Manager for the upcoming 2022 Science Expo. I am also a Boy Scout, where I earned my Eagle Scout Rank.
I am a well-rounded young person. I have traveled and experienced different cultures and languages through Scouting and school trips. I feel that I am the type of person who seeks to understand those who are different from me and learn from those around me.
I am excited about what my college experience will hold, and I want track to be an essential part of it!
