Winning the CA Div II State Championship along with going to the Nike Cross Nationals and our team placing 9th in the country as a Sophomore were the highlights of last years XC season. What helped me achieve these accomplishments was when I fractured my leg Freshman year of XC. This setback made me determined to train and want to become one of the Top 7 runners for my XC team. My first sophomore race at Chieftain-Spirit Classic Invitational, I ran a 16:55 placing 1st in the Frosh-Soph race which was :29 ahead of my next competitor. This was the stepping stone that allowed me to earn a spot on the Varsity Team the next race.
I am fortunate enough to be apart of an amazing running program with a tradition of excellence in sports and education. It was an honor to receive an email from the 1973 SFHS Cross Country Team congratulating us on being the fastest team in SFHS history. The 1973 team held the record for 44 years.
In college, I look forward to continue running with the same sense of pride and dedication I train with now.
