Hello, my name is Alexander Ibarra. I am a 10h grader at Coliseum College Prep in Oakland CA and will graduate in 2027. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA, and a 4.6 weighted GPA. I am interested in running cross country and track in college.
Last year I ran for my high school cross country team and saw a steady increase in my times. Going from 21:12 in my first race to 18:45 in my final race. For track and field I run the 1600 and 3200, I also do the hurdles but just because my coach asked me to since no one wanted to do hurdles and my coach told me that if I did hurdles other kids would join too. My enjoyment and dedication to running has increased a lot this past year.
At the end of my high school season I was invited to run club track with a local track team. I advanced to the USATF Junior Olympics in the 3000 where I placed 8th in the 13-14 division and earned the title of All American. I am eagerly looking forward to the start of the cross country season. I have trained all summer and hope to break 17:00 by the end of the season.
