Dylan Malone '22 Recruiting Profile

My name is Dylan Malone and I love running. I have been running Cross Country and Track since the 6th grade. I fell in love with running when it was introduced to me by the Middle School coach, TJ McKenzie.  Since my first race I have wanted to become a top runner. Coming into my 7th grade year I had become the second best runner in our league. When I got to High School I increased my training running in 90-100 degree weather for half of my time and the other half running in 7500+ elevation in the San Gabriel mountains. My training before my freshman year helped me run 16:34 for my Cross Country PR and getting 4:56.93 for the mile. I continued to train like I did before my freshman year and ran a 16:28 in the CIF qualifier but sadly my sophomore year track season was cut short because of covid-19. In my Junior year I was named team captain and got the boys team together to practice because we couldn't practice with a coach around. The frustration from covid-19 has helped me run over 500 miles during my summer training (2020) and I have a summer plan to run 50 miles a week (2021).

I am a versatile runner with a strong kick who embraces the leadership role to encourage my teammates and myself to reach our greatest potential.

I work just as hard in the classroom as I do in XC and Track. I maintain my GPA (3.86) and study hard for all of my classes. I aspire to major in Communication or Journalism and want to become a sports broadcaster or  journalist.

My family and I are regular members of High Desert Church in Victorville California where we attend the Phelan campus. Christianity is a very important aspect in my life and I try to connect it's teachings to my life.
