I barely got my senses back and in a blurry vision found myself surrounded by doctors lying in a hospital bed. I was explained how an accident caused my severe brain injury, DAI and bleeding in Corpus Callosum and caused me to go to severe coma. With God's grace, I was taken to the hospital following some stranger's 911 call and brought to consciousness in ~3 days. Although I was barely able to think or function, I knew this is not the first test in my life and like any other tests, I wasn't ready to give up/fail. I had been preparing long for my entry in the top university and have crossed all obstacles thus far. I can't let this test let me down. With everyone's prayer and my dream guiding me, I defeated all odds to resume my college applications and looking forward to full recovery already. This experience has given me the confidence to face any challenge in my life and win over them to reach my destiny.
Looking back into my childhood, I always had a strong interest towards sports and athletics. During my elementary years, I taught myself inline skating and was able to pick it up within a few days of effort.
As I moved to middle school, I developed deep fascination towards parkour and flips. It was very hard to get over the fear of falls. But I didn't let the fear keep me away from my dream for long. With consistent effort, I was able to learn and land my first front flip on school grounds in eighth grade. I spent 2+ hours every week to practice my flips. Each week, I felt desires to carry out new acrobatic movements in mid-air. I got through hundreds of falls, scrapes, and bruises to enable myself to do what I once thought impossible. I taught myself over 50+ different types of flips, including the double backflip and worked on doing multiple of them in high-speed, high-flying combos. I trained everywhere I went and filmed videos of myself. I started my second YouTube channel (Aero Surge) in which I inspired about 2000 viewers to keep testing their physical limits. I used Physics to analyze how I was able to land my spinning backflips. I studied the jumping force and arm movements associated with the motion and therefore both improved my understanding with Physics 2 and learned methods to improve my spinning speed. I posted my studies online at bit.ly/aeroflips.
Along with flips, I also got in the High school track and field team. I participated in short distance running, long jump, triple jump, cross country for 3 years (9-11) and competed in city Prelims. In EMT Valley Mission Prelims, I ranked 5th place for my long jump. In junior year, I was made the captain for the track team and was able to gain respect from the team members. I guided dozens of other scouts in improving their long jump and triple jump techniques. I guided them in the warm-up and work-out routines and pushed them to train harder each day and designed fun work-outs for them.
While staying fit and participating in athletics activities, I didn't let my focus get loose from academics. I maintained 4.3 weighted gpa (8/341 campus rank), 3.85 unweighted gpa, 1420 sat score (790 in math), became an Eagle scout, started and ran Tech Union Program in High school, led a data science research project at ASDRP and finished my Tabla (Indian percussion music) 3 year Diploma with first division. I developed academic interests in data science and neuroscience and plan on those fields joining me in college, along with the continuance of my athletic journey. In college, I plan to not only actively participate in the fitness teams, but continue guiding others to rise over every setback they undergo, until they accomplish the physical tests they put themselves into.
