All my life I’ve been drawn to running whether it was running away from my parents as a kid or participating in a 5k/10k for fun. In 5th grade I joined my middle school’s track team out of curiosity to see what it would be like. Ever since then, track and field has been a passion and love of mine, and I would love to have the opportunity to continue on and do bigger things with track beyond high school. This past season I was awarded team MVP. My coach expressed his appreciation for me stepping into events when there was a spot needed. He also acknowledged that I have a strong commitment to the team during practice and show strong leadership qualities when interacting with my teammates.
Since the beginning of my freshman year, my 400m times have continuously improved. During my sophomore track season, I participated in the Central Coast Section (CCS) Top 8 Invitational and placed 3rd in the 400m. It wasn't until then that I thought to myself that I would like to continue with track in College. During the offseason, I plan to stay in shape and work out in order to achieve one of my main goals, to qualify for the California State Championships by my senior year. Track and field has shaped who I am in such a large way impacting my leadership skills and work ethic for the better. Something I've learned through track is that if you set a goal and put your mind to it, it is by all means attainable.
