As someone who has done a plethora of sports I learned a lot about myself. I run track, played football, and do gymnastics. I realized they each taught me many lessons not just on the field but off as well. Football showed me the power of working in unison and achieving your goals with the help of others, in other words I learned how to work in groups with people who are different from me; how to encourage each other to work harder which is really valuable in and outside of athletic activities. Track and gymnastics taught me self moral and discipline. It made me realize giving up is never an option and how to have a healthy competition in other words it’s better to fail than give up.
While improving my athleticism skills it revealed to me I can be dedicated to many programs and still be committed to my work. When I first joined track, I gained the attention and respect of both my coach, teammates and other schools. It taught me how to show good sportsmanship and to lead by example regardless of winning or losing. Last but not least, it taught me there’s always room for improvement.
I have been recognized by my teammates as a captain. I was voted track captain in the Spring of 2019-2023. I am grateful for the opportunity to strengthen my leadership skills. One of my achievements was going to state for the track season of 2022. It is such an honor for others to recognize me for my talents.
