Of the number of sports I have been involved with (swimming, football, wrestling and, track), track is what I enjoy most. I was the fastest runner in the 100m dash, in the seventh (7th) grade when I played football. This is when I was recommended to join the track team, so I did.
In the eight (8th) grade as a member of the track team, I competed with all the local and surrounding schools and discovered that I was one of the fastest in the area, receiving multiple medals. This is when I knew I have a true gift of speed.
I did not join the track team in my ninth (9th) grade year in order to devote more time to my academics. I did however, continue to focus on my conditioning.
I was able to join the high school JV track team in my tenth (10) grade year. After the first meet (02/21/2015), I was placed on the varsity team. The events I ran were the 100m, 200m, 4x100m and, 4x200m and place very well in each event, receiving medals.
It was then, as a family, we decided that I should take my skills to Colorado to receive better training. The pros to that is, the school I would attend makes sure the academics are well received and the higher altitude would help with the conditioning of my lungs. It was there where I truly gained an appreciation for my classroom studies. I am now working very diligently on my academics and athletic skills. I now appreciate the mental gains of each with a humble reception.
I enjoy the feeling of being in great physical condition and performing at an optimal level, from nutrition to exercising (i.e: stretching, weight training, warm ups to cool down, proper sleep, etc.). I understand that there are many aspects to running a race, in which I am continuing to learn.
Work ethic, drive and, will power may be shared by all athletes, in which I admire as a competitor. But, I set myself apart here because with me, each is a competition where I push myself to take it to the next level.
I have an interest in receiving a scholarship in track, so I may be able to focus on my degree interest. I am intrigued with the study of Psychology as well as Nutrition and Fitness. It would be satisfying to be perfectly match with a university or college that offers both, scholarship and degree.
I aspire to attend a college or university that shares my passion in recruiting an athlete who strives to be a top notch contender in and out of the classroom. I strongly feel that with the right match, together we may achieve high success for the school, the sport and my future in becoming a proud alumni. I also aspire to become one of the elite Olympians to represent our United States of America.
