Hello Coaches/ Recruiters,
My name is Alexander Levi Waltenbaugh; I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado on January
6th of 1994. I stand at 6’5’’ and weigh a whopping 175 on a good day. I may be a little bit skinny but I am
quick and I have very good hurdle form. I think as a strong person with a lot of leadership ability and experience I could be a major asset to any team. I am currently my JROTC Battalion Commander, which means I am the highest-ranking cadet in the program and I am in charge of running over 200 cadets daily. This helps me show that I am a leader both in school and outside of school.
Besides running hurdles I also play football, so I am a year round athlete. Some quick statistics on me are that my fastest official time is only a 15.25, but I have been marked all the way down at a 14.3 to a 14.8 range at practice during run offs. I just haven’t been able to get a good race in during a meet due to weather. Even at state this year it was snowing and raining for the prelims. I work hard both on the track and in the classroom, I currently hold at 3.61 GPA which leaves me ranked 69th in my class out of 398. When I am on the track running I feel at home and in peace. Like no one else can touch me and this is the reason I love track and that I am successful when I run.
I run for Fountain Fort Carson High School, we are the reigning two time state champions for both 2010 and 2011 and hopefully if we all work hard enough my senior year of 2012. I work hard on the track, and I always complete my work out that the coach assigns me. I give practice 110% everyday at everything I do. Whether it is a conditioning day or a hurdle form day, I give it my all so that I will drop time in the next upcoming meet. Along with winning state I was first team academic All-State and we were league champions. I have been the Trojan of the month twice for my high school and all of my coaches and my
teachers look up to me at a leader of the school.
I’m open to viewing any colleges as a possible match for me. I am open to Christian school
as well as urban and suburban colleges. I know I want to join the military shortly
after college and I am currently in the process of obtaining a 4 year Army or Air
force ROTC scholarship. I want a traditional 4 year college so that I can enjoy
the life of an athlete, student, and military man. I live in Colorado and have
my family here so I would kind of like to stay in state but I would venture
into Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Wyoming, South Dakota, and even Arizona or
Texas. My mom being a single mother of 3 disabled kids works very hard to give all of us kids what we need and sometimes not always what we want. But hey that’s life; you have to roll with the punches and keep on fighting. With my mom being the main source of income for the family she could never afford to put me into college. So we will be in the financial aid category if I don’t receive a scholarship or my 4 year ROTC scholarship.
I have yet to proclaim a major in college, I am playing the field my senior year to see how things take me and I will decide shortly. I am a realistic guy for the most part. I know that my freshmen year I may or may not compete as much as I would like to. It’s all about ability, and how much effort I put into being the best athlete I can be. But I have realistic goals, I want to compete at the highest level I possibly can every year that I am in college. Whether that means I go to 1 meet or all of the meets, I have the internal drive to keep myself steered straight and be the best athlete I can be.
Sincearly,
Alexander Waltenbaugh
