Lukey Mahorski '25 Recruiting Profile

Hello my name is Luke but I prefer to be called Lukey,

• I love to run Cross Country and Track and Field. I have been running Cross Country ever since I was in 7th grade. I have been running in Track ever since I was a freshman. I just love to run! I literally run everyday, and I have been running consistently everyday since May of 2020. I very rarely miss a day. Running is a part of me. I love that running allows me to explore new places and see new sights. I live in the mountains of Colorado, so running the trails around my house is extra special. I am used to the elevation and I use it to help my endurance when I go to the planes to run (down in elevation, 8500 to 5280 feet). Human's have been running ever since be the begging of our species, and the fact that I am able to do something that has always been is really extraordinary! This is great tradition that I get to keep alive. I love being part of a team and being able to cheer on my fellow team mates. In track, besides being able to do relays with my team mates, I run the 1 mile and 2 mile events. When the time comes for me to go college, I will major in political science. In my spare time I am part of Student Counsel, Nederland Youth board and I go to all my neighborhood board meetings.  Family is also very important to me. I have a younger brother, Kale, who I am very close to. My parents are super amazing and supportive. We do dinner at my maternal grandparent's house every Friday, which is always awesome and delicious! My Poppy (Grandpa) ran Cross Country and Track and Field in High School and College. He has been an amazing support and encouragement. It's so cool that despite all the years between us, we have so much in common and are able to share a love of running. We also get to see my paternal grandparents every month. I have been really blessed to have a summer job and some weekends during the school year at an organic beef ranch called Caribou Ranch. I am a Ranch Hand and get to spend my days outside, working out (haha) and with animals. It's really a dream job for any kid. I do struggle with severe Dyslexia, but through years of lots of hard work, have managed to succeed. Thank you for taking the time to read through this.
