Personal Statement

“If you take time to enjoy the scenery, then you aren’t working as hard as you should be”. -Sebastian Coe

There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, there are no limits. -Michael Phelps

Whatever problems may exist, I have to help my team win a national championship. -Phillip Castillo

The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have a promise to keep...and miles to go before I sleep. -Robert Frost

That which we persist in doing becomes easier, not that the nature of the thing has changed, but our ability to do it has increased. -Dad

Don't you quit! You keep working, you keep trying. There is hope and happiness ahead. -Elder Jeffery R. Holland

I will do whatever it takes to help my team, my school. and myself become the best we can be. I will not disobey the Word of Wisdom by taking supplements such as caffeine, coffee, or drugs. I do not complain and I do not swear. I will rise to any challenge, and get back up every time I fall. I know that it will hurt, but I know it will be worth it. The reward is greater than the pain I will face. I have my family's support, and they are why I run.  I will do the hard work to be the best. Give it all to be one of the few.

Training

  • Training since freshman year: (2019-present)
  • 5 years
  • I started running after my freshman year of football (2019-2020). I chose not to play basketball so that I could run and train for track season. (i ran 4 miles per day for 5 days). I went to one day of practice, then covid shut everything down the very next day. (I was able to letter that year). I continued to run throughout the quarantine still on 4 miles a week. I ran this every week from March to September of 2020. (total: 500 miles). I ran cross country my sophomore year . We were 2 points away from making it to state as a boys team. My best time was 19:12. I continued to run 4 miles a week after cross country and into track. I had my best track season (so far). I ran the Manitou incline a few times with my best time being 32 minutes. I ran 6 miles for the first time on Labor Day weekend 2021. After my junior year of cross country , I ran 40 miles a week . This is my first time truly running "base miles". I ran a 10 miles prairie course near my house with hills, loose rocks, and a lot of sand. I also did hard lifting for 5 days a week since the end of cross country. My bench press max is 155. Deadlift 300. Squat 265. Power clean: 154. RDL: 200lbs. I do a 15 minute core workout that works my abs, back, hamstrings, glutes, arms, and tendons. I have logged 465.18 miles since the end of 2021 cross country.

Additional Sports

  • Football
  • 2 years
  • Junior Varsity Team
  • I played high school football my freshman and sophomore years. (My sophomore year was unique, so I was able to do both. Cross country started really early, so by the time it ended, football was starting. We had an undefeated season and played in the 2020
