As a young child, I tried various town and club sports, but never really found the right fit on an athletic team until I began my track career in Middle School. Our Middle School team was fairly large for a small town, and I was encouraged to try different events including long jump, the 100m, 200m, relays, and throwing events. Although I earned points for my team running and jumping, I quickly discovered I had the strength, agility, and speed to not only throw far, but outthrow my competition at every meet. When I entered High School, I was able to add javelin and hammer and the winter of my sophomore year my school invested in weight throw. I have steadily been increasing my distances and by the end of my sophomore year hold the school record in hammer and weight throw.
I attended throwing camps the last two summers with ETC (Elite Throws Coaching), and this summer trained with a local throwing group and have been working on transitioning my glide shot put throw to a rotational throw. This summer I competed at several meets, including one hosted by the Central Connecticut State University Blue Devil Throwers where I had my best hammer throw to date (157’ 10”). My personal throwing goals this year include not only besting my PRs in shot, discus, hammer, and weight throw, placing at our State Meets both indoor and outdoor, and qualifying for Nationals for weight throw and hammer.
Longer term, my goals include attending an ABET Accredited Mechanical Engineering program at a college or university in or around the New England area where I can continue to learn and grow as a thrower on their track team. I am a dedicated student athlete, taking a demanding course load in and out of the STEM classes, maintaining at least Honor Roll recognition (if not High Honor Roll) each quarter and received Student Athlete honors sophomore year. When not throwing or studying, I play drums in my school's Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble, I am out hunting for US and foreign coins and currency as a numismatist, or I am playing vintage and current video games with friends.
