My name is Robert Powell. I am a senior at Middletown high school and my best events are the triple jump, long jump and short distance sprinting. As I started track in junior year of highschool, it taught me a lot that I could apply into my everyday life. I was able to become more disciplined in regards to not only track but in my academics. Throughout the years of my highschool career, I never really had the best grades to begin with. But with track I was able to teach myself how to grow and to become a stronger person. The transition between junior to senior really shows the improvements compared to my previous years in highschool. I was able to raise my gpa last semester of junior year and the current first semester of senior year from a 2.5 to a 3.2 to now currently a 3.7. The growth that I had from track was able to change me into a better man mentally and physically.
While participating in track and field it also helped me realize that to become a successful athlete, you have to be doing the right things on and off the track. I plan to strive to become a better person and student athlete that will be able to represent a good school, preferably Division II or I. My goals for the end of the indoor season are a 45ft triple jump, 22ft long jump, 6.85 sec 55m, and 22 sec 200m. My goals for outdoor are a 49ft triple jump, 25ft long jump, 10.8 100m, and a 21 200m. These goals are very achievable because with my determination and discipline, I am able to grow to a level I put my mind to. That is why I believe that a good school deserves an athlete like me that is able to consistently work hard to achieve the dreams and goals in mind. I want to be able to participate on the next level and help a team become one of the greatest.
