For much of my life, I had viewed soccer as my favorite sport that I would want to play as long as I could, but when I first tried track in eighth grade my perspective drastically changed. Running was something that felt more natural to me and something that I could push myself to improve more easily. I went on to do both track and cross country in high school where I qualified for regionals in the 800 during my sophomore year and qualified both as an individual and with my cross country team for regionals in my sophomore and junior years. Consistently as the fastest member of both teams I carry a position of leadership among my teammates though this has not always been easy. I have faced and overcome my share of mental barriers and personal struggles while trying to become the best that I can be. Through both in season and off season training with coaches, trainers and mentors I have steadily gotten the better of these inhibitions and have gained a better realization of who I am meant to be. Combined with my constant drive to be the valedictorian of my high school class I believe I can bring these necessary qualities and be a key part of a college team.
