I've played Football and thrown Discus and Shot Put since 8th grade. Sophmore year I just missed qualifying for State in Discus. That was very disppointing. In fall of 2019, I decided to focus solely on throwing and joined the Throw1Deep throwing club. In addition to Discus and Shot Put, I've started competing in Weight and Hammer. I've only been training with the Weight since September, so I'm hoping my PR of 47.04.25 feet will improve through the remainder of indoor throwing season. I'm looking forward to outdoor throwing season to see how the focused training improves my Discus and Shot Put marks, as well as getting the chance to throw Hammer.
Through club training, I've confirmed that I really love all aspects of throwing. I enjoy being in the weight room. I enjoy being a teammate. I enjoy the competition. I especially enjoy learning how to throw Weight and Hammer. I'm physically strong, which makes me uniquely suited for throwing sports. I've made the 700 club at Woodward Academy, which means that the combined weight of my Squat, Bench Press and Deadlift is over 700 pounds. As I work on technique, I'm confident my marks will improve.
As for my academic aspirations, I'm hoping to go to medical school. I beleive participating in a collegiate sport can help me achieve that goal. Participating in a sport provides structure and focus. I'm hoping to find a college where my academic goals and athletic goals compliment eachother.
