I grew up in a single parent home with my mother and younger brother, but my mom was always either at school or at work.I always used the excuse that I had no father in my life when I did something that I shouldn't have been doing. I haven’t seen my father since, which is almost a decade. I tend to not trust anyone because when I would talk with him on the phone, he would lie, saying he was going to see me. I always felt very excited and was really looking forward to it, but he never showed up. I would cry , and haven’t shown him any love ever since.
I needed some type of support in life especially because, my mother was sick , and when she got home I was the man of the house; I had to take care of my mom and my little brother at the age of 12.
I started to become a delinquent, and I was letting my mother down. I was doing, poorly with my academics, getting demerits, fighting, and taking things from people. I was really going down the wrong path.
Third grade was the year I went to summer school, and I realized all the people who claimed to be my friends was the one's peer pressured me to do the wrong things; after that experience, I chose to be a leader and decided to turn my life around. I was young when I realized this, and haven’t never looked back. Although I wasn't the smartest, I began working hard and my grades improved tremendously. I look upon this as a special time because after all the things that happened, I was still able to bounce back and overcome the obstacles before it was too late.
Once I got to high school I my life changed even more drastically; my life at school was a lot more strict, and it took me a year to get used to it.During sophomore year, my GPA was stuck at 2.5 all year; junior year I shot for a 3.0 and I ended up reaching my goal. Once I hit my goal of a 3.0, I started to do sports, and I decided to join Track and Field; my coach f underestimated me a little, but once he realized t my potential I was on Varsity. I went to sectional two times in a row and won a decent amount of metals in a two year span. In hindsight, all of the setbacks that have happened in my life I realize have made me stronger. Although I still have a lot to improve on, I have improved immensely as far my work ethic and behavior. My attitude and personality also improved because I'm a lot more vulnerable and willing to take risks. I’m also more willing to ask for help if I need it.
