My name is Nicholas Trimuel, I am a senior at Thornwood High School, and I will be in the graduating class of 2020. I am currently a track and field sprinter and jumper. What made me start track and field was my family. I loved hearing the stories of who was the fastest and aspired to be the fastest in the family. That competitive attitude drove me to want to be an intricate piece of a competitive track team. I started running track my 7th grade year, and I competed in various events until I came to high school, where I fell in love with long jump and running the 100 and 200 meter races. That all came to a halt due to oral surgery that took me out of the season for four months. I recently came back better than ever and started to run summer track for my school club. My resilience has allowed me to surpass my previous personal best in summer track and motivates me to make better marks for this upcoming year.
My commitment to track has not interfered with my academics. I have applied to several colleges, but I am not committed yet. I hope to further my education and major in business administration/management in order to work in my father’s carpenting business. I have been working with my father since I was a kid. I started off by painting, until when I got older and stronger, I started putting up drywall and putting in floors. I hope to grow his business by marketing it as a provider of affordable remodeling.
My current GPA is 3.1. I have been able to balance my grade point average in spite of being in athletics and extracurricular activities. Outside of track, I volunteer in my school in a male mentoring group called A Few Good Men and at my church. I have recently become Vice President of A Few Good Men. I hope to fulfill my duties as Vice President by incorporating more activities in our school and having more young men join our group.
