From an early age I was a young athlete determined to develop my talent through various sports, all of which consisted of soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. I always envisioned myself being able to showcase my talent at a collegiate level, but it was only until I entered high school where I realized track was the sport meant for me. I began running track for my school in 7th grade, and as for everything I do, I wanted to put my best foot forward and make a name for myself. In middle school I trained with the high school track team in order to better prepare myself for the next level and challenges I was bound to face. Through this process I was able to recognize my desire to learn, succeed, and challenge myself, because that is the only way to excel.
I feel like my love for running is what led me to this sport, as well as my eagerness to compete at a high level. I put in the work year around, in the classroom and on the track. I have always been highly competitive, and love to work on improving upon myself every day. What sets me apart from the competition is not only my quietly focused mentality, but my long stride, lower body strength and speed, all of which give me an advantage compared to other sprinters. In addition, I am a very coachable athlete, always looking for constructive feedback, because that is the only way to better myself. Through high school I have played football and run track at a varsity level. In 2018 we won the LHSAA state championship in football and I just recently competed in the state championship for the 4x400m relay. Unfortunately, we did not place, but it was an experience I will not forget and an obstacle that I will undoubtedly overcome. I realize the work that needs to be put in this offseason.
My objective is to attend a university that can guide me along a path that will help me obtain my goals in the future. During my time in college I want to work on pursuing a career in the architectural field. In addition to what I want to accomplish academically, I plan to run track at a competitive, collegiate level and want to be in an environment where I feel like I can perfect my craft every day. I want to be surrounded by coaches and staff that are going to push me to be the best version of myself on and off the track. I want to put in the work and give forth the effort to accomplish any goal or task that is set before me. I am looking forward to an opportunity to take my talent to the next level and with that I will continue to put in the work to be the best student, athlete, and overall person I can be.
