I started out running in eighth grade as a means to develop a closer relationship between me and my father, as well as something that I thought would be fun. It ended up being far beyond both. I have grown far closer to my father as running is truly our greatest bonding point. Running has become my life over the past 3 years. Quickly, I became the best on the middle school team primarily due to my self determination and practice in and outside of team practices. Unfortunately, I was unable to compete in track due to an unexpected heart condition resulting in heart surgery. However I was back up and of course running within a month. I continued my training to high school where I truly grew into the athlete I am today.
My first year of high school cross country I was fifth on the team and the other four of the top five guys were amazing teammates, friends, and most importantly; role models. They molded me into the leader I am today. With all of them graduated I am left as the best person on the team. I am the LHSAA 4A 2018 Individual State Champion and two time LHSAA 4A 2017 and 2018 Team State Championships. However, being the best at something does not make you a leader. What makes me a leader is my ability to push my teammates to their limits and then beyond. Whether it be with something personal or about running, I am always there to help. Being the leader, I also practice self determination. Outside of practice I take care of my body, food, extra running/exercise, and most importantly: school. School is the most important thing and therefore it is always at the forefront. Currently I am taking all Honors and AP classes and have A's and B's, as well as a very occasionally C. I currently haven't taken the ACT but am studying to do so at the end of the year. I make a great addition to the team as a co-op based follower, as well as a future self determined leader who will strive to be the best in the classroom and on the track.
In the future I'd am definitely attending college for either psychology or product design. With product design I'd love to design running shoes which would relate to my primary task, going pro.
