My entire life I've been running, whether that be running on a track, on roads, or metaphorically when it comes to academics. In middle school, I ran cross country and then moved away to a school that didn't even have a track team, so I missed the opportunity to run track, but I endured. When I finally moved to Maine, my freshman year was the covid year of 2020, and we didn't have cross country or indoor track run, but outdoor track was still going. I decided that I was going to join the track team, and I fell in love. From day one of doing track, I started putting in the work. I wasn't expecting it to be easy, and I just had to push through and keep going. That's exactly what I did. I have been getting faster and faster due to my training, and I think that this next year I will run faster than I ever have. The evidence I have for this was the cross country season, where I pr'd by almost 4 minutes. I have the drive to continue running in college, and I believe that I will be a great asset for any team that has me.
When it comes to academics though, I can say that it's even better. Throughout my entire life, I've been getting great grades. Before high school, my lowest grade was a B+ in my 7th grade English class. That streak has continued into high school, and will continue beyond. Currently, I have a 4.137 weighted GPA for the first 3 of my high school years. Not only do I have good grades, but I am still striving to learn. I want to study mechanical engineering in college, and I want to find the best school for that that fits me. However, I am moreso looking for a school that can provide me the opportunities to learn engineering, and that outweighs my goals for track. If I can have both, then that's great, but if I find a school that is good enough for me academically, but I'm not good enough for athletically, I will still go to that school.
Thank you.
