Liam Lear-Wecht '24 Recruiting Profile

As an athlete, I am open minded. On the advice of one of my track coaches, I made the choice not to play soccer this past fall and instead ran cross country to be better prepared for the indoor track season. I have been primarily a 400m/800m runner. It was difficult to transition to the 5k cross country distance. I accepted the challenge and rose through the ranks to assume the 7th position on our boys varsity lineup. I am self-motivated. In addition to my regular track practices I have been training in the gym twice a week on my own time. I follow the sport along with pro and college athletes to glean workouts, warm-ups, race strategies, as well as dietary tips. I have set a PR in the 500m every meet this indoor season and have qualified for the Maryland State 4A Indoor Championships. I look forward to working with a professional collegiate coaching staff to achieve my full potential. 

All the attributes I have already mentioned factor into my academics. I love learning. I am in an accelerated STEM program where I am expected to work both independently and in groups. I know that I want to be involved in business in some way and have already gone through the process of starting a business of my own.
