Ever since sneaking into my first race as a 5 year old I have always had a passion for running. Over the course of my elementary years, I ran in local races to compete for first place. By the time I got to middle school, I was competing in so many sports that running had slipped more into the background. Going into my first year of high school, I was feeling confident in myself coming off of a strong 8th grade track season. Eventually my season was put on hold for a time in order to regain my health after contracting MONO. I was out of running for almost a month but was able to come back for the championship season. However, I wasn't running as fast as I wanted too. Freshman year track came around and I was juggling four sports at the same time, which wasn't the best decision. Coming off of another season of not reaching my goals, I was determined going into my sophomore season to focus on my running goals. After starting off strong, I injured my ankle badly during a travel soccer match. It took more time out of my season that I was unable to train and compete as much as I needed to. I again was able to comeback during the championship season and preform well all things considered, yet not the expectation I held myself too. Then, the pandemic hit after a couple really good weeks of training. Due to the shut down, I had limited access to tracks and was confined to trying to stay in shape on my own. I did my best but I wasn't feeling as good as I wanted to. Then in the midst of the pandemic I moved to a completely new area. I was able to join a club and compete in races throughout the fall. By the end of the season, I was running best times but still was not satisfied. I am determined to get to the next level athletically, and academically.
