I’m a senior at Hanover High School. I have been running varsity cross country and varsity track for the high school since freshman year. I first started cross country and track at the middle school in 8th grade after I decided not to play football anymore. One of the coaches recommended I try the cross country program. Even in my first year I saw that I have a drive to work hard and become faster. I realized that I really have a passion for running. Originally I was planning on playing basketball going into high school but after a successful year with the cross country and track teams in 8th grade, I decided to focus on my running. I have been a Patriot League All Star for cross country 3 years in a row. I have been a captain for both teams in my junior year and have already been voted captain for cross country and track for senior year. I was awarded the sportsmanship award in 2018 for both cross country and outdoor track
Part of what I love about cross country and track is the team aspect. Yes, these sports take individual efforts, but my teammates and I work hard together and encourage each other to do better. We care about each other, work hard and have fun while doing it. I would like to run for a college and I could only hope to help bring the team together and make new friends as I have with the high school team.
I am interested in studying Environmental Sciences and Sustainability. I am highly interested in the way the world works through science. I am an honor roll student with some high honors terms for all my classes and am continuing to work hard academically as well as with my sports.
