McKenna O'Hare Gibson '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is McKenna O’Hare Gibson. I am a Junior at Lexington High School in Massachusetts. I compete with my school team as well as the Waltham Track Club.

Since I was a little kid, I loved running around and all my peers expressed their amazement at my speed. I’ve been told forever to join the track team, but I wasn’t sure. Since I got narrowly cut from the basketball team in sophomore year, I decided to give track a try. It was one of the best decisions of my life.

Within the first few days, the coaches conveyed their desire to put me on varsity. They all held a conversation with me, explaining that I had great potential and when I apply myself, which I have, I could take my talents to a very high level. By the end of the week, I was riding the bus down to Boston University for the first meet of the season alongside my varsity teammates.

Now, my natural talent made me good, but it's my continued training and determination to reach my full potential that will make me great at the collegiate level. I embody this by closely observing my coaches instructions, encouraging my teammates in practice and meets, and putting my best effort on the track and in the gym. Not only do I push myself on the track, I push myself in the classroom. As my parents instill in me, a strong mind is just as crucial as a strong body, and I strive to live by this.

I am open and willing to explore any and all colleges interested, and aspire to become my most accomplished self, not only to prove to others I did it, but to prove to myself that it’s possible.
